WHAT AGES CAN AUDITION?

We accept applications from performers aged 7-20 for all programs.

CAN I AUDITION FOR MULTIPLE PROGRAMS?

If you audition for the Weekly MT Program, you will automatically be considered for the Weekly Singing Program as well; there is no need to book two auditions.

If you wish to audition for the Weekly Program and the Associates Program, you will be required to book and attend both auditions.

WHAT KIND OF PERFORMERS GET ACCEPTED?

Whether you're a seasoned young West End professional, or relatively new to the world of musical theatre, it is absolutely worth trying out. You might be a triple-threat, or you might only have experience in one discipline so far. Whatever your situation, it's worth giving it a go; we have different teams on offer for varying levels of experience and if you have the potential to thrive in one of those teams, we will spot it.

Qualities we look for in performers include motivation, passion, kindness and eagerness to learn.

IF I'M SUCCESSFUL, WHEN DOES TRAINING TAKE PLACE?

  • Weekly training takes place on Saturdays or Sundays. Which day will be determined by the Spirit team and depend on where the performer best fits within the company. Term date information can be found here.

  • MT Associates training takes place on the first Sunday of every month.

IF I'M SUCCESSFUL, IS THERE FINANCIAL SUPPORT AVAILABLE?

Yes. You can read more about that here.

I LIVE OUTSIDE OF LONDON. CAN I STILL AUDITION?

Absolutely! Most of our students travel into London, from all over the country and beyond. If you are able to make the journey and be committed to your training, we don't mind where you are from.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT AUDITIONS...

We work hard to make sure our auditions are fun, rewarding, supportive and educational, regardless of the outcome. Teamwork is strongly encouraged and all applicants should walk away having learnt something from the experience.

  • For the Weekly MT Program: auditions last for 3 hours and are made up of a singing section, a dance call and a short interview with the panel.

  • For the Weekly Singing Program: the audition lasts for 1 hour and applicants will be asked to sing a song of their choice, followed by a short interview with the panel.

  • For the MT Associate Program: auditions last for 4 hours. Applicants will go through a singing call, dance class, acting workshop and a short informal interview with the panel.

WHAT TO PREPARE...

All applicants will need to prepare a song of their choice. You can bring sheet music with you for our piano accompanist, or be prepared to sing a cappella.

You will only need to sing a verse and a chorus (or the equivalent, time-wise). You are welcome to start halfway through the song or just sing the end if that's the section that best showcases what you can do.

WHAT TO BRING...

Please bring lots of water (you will be working hard!) and a snack/packed lunch. Please have a song prepared for the audition, and MT applicants should wear suitable shoes/clothing for dance. Any long hair should be tied back off the face.

ARE PARENTS REQUIRED TO STAY AT THE AUDITION?

Applicants will be chaperoned by Spirit staff for the full duration of the audition. Parents/Guardians can make use of the waiting room area at the venue, or drop off and collect at the end of the session.

WHEN WILL I RECEIVE A RESPONSE?

All applicants will receive a response within two weeks of their audition.

Successful applicants will either be offered an immediate placement, or a spot on our waiting list (subject to availability of spaces in appropriate class).

WHAT ARE THE AUDITION FEES?

  • Weekly MT Program:          £15 for 3 hour audition

  • Weekly Singing Program:   £5 for 1 hour audition

  • MT Associates Program:     £20 for 4 hour audition

These fees cover taking classes with our world-class faculty, and being reviewed by our expert panel.
